One ID for all donations from a single payment
When a supporter gives to two or more designations in a single transaction, all resulting donations now share a Grouped Donation ID — a unique code in the format DGXXXXXXX (for example, DGCEWRBLM).
This makes it possible to identify and group those donations in exports and reporting.
This also applies to historical donations — all existing payments with two or more designations have been assigned a Grouped Donation ID retroactively.
In the Dashboard
Each donation that belongs to a grouped payment shows its Grouped Donation ID in the donation detail view, alongside links to the other donations from the same transaction. You can copy the ID directly or open any related donation from the same view.
The Grouped Donation ID is also searchable — enter it in the search bar to pull up all donations from that payment at once.
In exports
A new Grouped Donation ID column is available in these export types:
- New donations
- Successful donations
- Refunded donations
- Failed donations
- New recurring plans
- Canceled recurring plans
- Failed recurring plans.
The column is blank for single-designation payments and for subsequent recurring installments.
In your CRM
Grouped Donation ID is available as a new field mapping in the Donation object for:
- Bloomerang
- Bonterra EveryAction
- DonorPerfect
- HubSpot
- Kindful
- Neon CRM
- Salesforce
- Salesforce Education Cloud
- Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
- Salesforce NPSP
- Virtuous CRM
- Virtuous G&C Import Write
- Zapier
In the Donor Portal
Supporters see their split donation as a single entry in their donation history. Clicking through opens a summary of all designations in that payment, with access to the receipt and tribute options.
What you need to do
Nothing. Grouped Donation IDs are assigned automatically — no setup required. If you use a CRM integration, you can optionally add Grouped Donation ID as a mapping field. To add the mapping, go to Settings > Integrations, open your CRM, go to Mapping rules and add Grouped Donation ID under the Donation object mapping.
Existing CRM setups continue to work without any changes.
