P2P fundraising is now part of Fundraise Up
Peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising is an entirely new way to raise money with Fundraise Up. Your supporters can now fundraise for your organization on pages they create and run themselves, on their own or as a team, for a birthday, a memorial, or any occasion you set up. Supporters donate through the Fundraise Up checkout, and every donation is recorded in the same account as the rest of your online giving.
P2P campaigns in Fundraise Up are designed for DIY fundraising: supporters start a page when something in their life gives them a reason to ask others to give. You set up a campaign once. Supporters sign up, become fundraisers, and bring your cause to their own friends, family, and colleagues. Your team oversees all of it from the Dashboard.
From sign-up to a live page
Sign-up opens over your website and walks a supporter through a few short steps: how to fundraise, which occasion the page is for, a short story, and a goal. A supporter who doesn't know what to write can type a few rough sentences, and AI rewrites them into a story and writes a page title from it. To publish, they sign in with Google, Apple, or a one-time code sent to their email, so they don't need a password. The page goes live and takes donations as soon as they sign in.
What fundraisers do after launch
Fundraisers manage their page themselves. They can:
- Share the page on social media, by email, or with a QR code.
- Make the first donation themselves.
- Reply to each donation with a thank-you.
- Post updates with photos or video.
For Instagram, the page creates ready-to-post images with the cover, title, and amount raised. Supporters who gave receive the updates and thank-you replies by email, so they hear from the person who asked them.
Fundraise Up also emails fundraisers as donations come in and as their page passes goal milestones. You can edit most of these emails or switch them off.
Team fundraising
A supporter can start a team, invite others by link or email, and raise money toward a shared goal on a team page. Each member decides whether to fundraise on the team page only or to add a page of their own. When a supporter gives on a team page, they choose who the donation counts toward: the whole team or one member.
Moderation and brand control
Fundraisers don't wait for your approval to go live. Fundraise Up checks every page, update, and supporter comment for two things: harmful content, and personal details that don't belong on a public page, such as a home address or a bank account number. It marks what needs your attention first. It doesn't hide or remove anything on its own, because your team makes those decisions. You can approve the content, edit it, hide a single update or comment, pause a page with a message that tells the fundraiser what to fix, or block the page.
The campaign also sets what every page starts with:
- Your logo.
- The occasions supporters choose from.
- A default cover, title, and story for each occasion.
- A suggested goal.
- The legal details in the page footer.
One account for all your giving
Donations on fundraiser pages use the checkout settings of their campaign. These include suggested amounts, recurring donations, the option to cover transaction costs, tributes, employer matching, and donation matching with a sponsor.
Peer-to-peer donations and the supporters who make them are part of the same Fundraise Up account as your direct giving:
- Built-in CRM integrations sync each donation along with the fundraiser it was made to.
- A dedicated export covers individual and team pages.
- Insights shows how much each page raised and how many of its visitors went on to donate.
- You can track fundraiser pages with Meta Pixel and Google Tag Manager.
Launch and day-to-day management
You can open a campaign to supporters in two ways. You can turn on a banner on an existing Campaign Page that invites visitors to fundraise, which doesn't require any code. You can also add a P2P Fundraiser Button or Link to your website and emails. To show visitors who has already started, you can add a gallery of fundraiser pages, a leaderboard, and a counter of fundraisers and teams.
In the Dashboard, your team follows every page across campaigns, with filters and saved views. You can also:
- Create pages yourself for a high-profile supporter.
- Add members to a team.
- Record cash or checks a fundraiser collected, so the page total includes them.
If an agency or consultant runs your program, the P2P Specialist role limits their access to peer-to-peer activity. Organizations with subaccounts run campaigns in each account, and the parent account sees fundraisers across all of them.
Fundraisers, the earlier way to run supporter-led fundraising in Fundraise Up, stays available to organizations that already use it, and their existing pages keep working. For new campaigns, use P2P campaigns.
