Zakat Calculator: a new Nisab option and a new name

The Zakat Calculator is now called the Zakat al-Mal Calculator. Zakat al-Mal is the Zakat on wealth, and the new name sets the calculator apart from the Zakat al-Fitr Calculator, which covers the Zakat paid for each household member before Eid al-Fitr.

This update also brings the following changes for supporters:

  • Supporters can enter a Nisab amount set by their imam or local Islamic organization instead of basing it on gold or silver.
  • Before supporters enter any figures, the calculator tells them that their financial details stay on their device and are used only for the calculation.
  • When the calculator works out Nisab or the value of their gold and silver, it shows the metal price it used.
  • Supporters who don't have cash or precious metals can skip those steps.
  • If supporters already know their Zakat amount, they can skip the calculation, enter that amount, and go to checkout.

The calculation and the Element settings stay the same, apart from the new name.
