Gift Aid update: donation type and personalized impact (UK)

UK organizations can now collect more accurate Gift Aid data. During checkout, supporters specify the source of their funds, which helps organizations avoid claiming Gift Aid on ineligible donations and potential compliance issues with HMRC.

The Gift Aid screen now also shows a personalized estimate of how much Gift Aid will be added to the donation.

Under HMRC rules, Gift Aid applies only to personal funds. When Gift Aid is enabled, supporters see a Donation type field with three options:

  • My own money — The supporter proceeds to the Gift Aid screen.
  • On behalf of organization — The Gift Aid screen is skipped. The supporter must provide the organization name.
  • Fundraising or collection — The Gift Aid screen is skipped.
