AI Assistant

Ask questions about your fundraising data in plain language, right inside your Dashboard.

AI Assistant is a chat inside your . Ask a question about your fundraising in plain language, and the answer comes back from your 's own data: donations, , , and Insights.

AI Assistant is available on request. To add it to your account, contact your Customer Success Manager.

Turn on AI Assistant

Only an Organization Administrator can turn AI Assistant on or off. Until it is on, no one in your organization can open the chat.

  1. Go to Settings > AI Assistant.
  2. Read the terms and conditions.
  3. Select Agree to the terms and authorize Fundraise Up to send your data to AI providers.
  4. Click Enable AI Assistant.

AI Assistant appears in the left-side menu for everyone in your organization.

To turn it off, go to Settings > AI Assistant and click Disable AI Assistant. The chat becomes unavailable to everyone in your organization, and their existing chats are no longer reachable.

What you can ask

The assistant works only with data your Dashboard role can see. If your role cannot see something in the Dashboard, the assistant cannot show it to you.

The assistant answers from four parts of your : donations, recurring plans, supporters, and Insights. Ask for a figure, a comparison between two periods, a list, or a short summary you can pass on.

Try one of these to start:

  • How much did we raise last month compared with the month before?
  • Show failed donations from the past week.
  • Which campaigns raised the most this quarter?
  • Who are our top supporters by lifetime giving?
  • Which countries did our donations come from in June?
  • How much did our Fundraise Up AI tools bring in this quarter?

When a question is ambiguous, the assistant will ask you to narrow it down instead of guessing. When a result is too long for a chat, it will show a short sample and point you to an export.

What AI Assistant does not do

Access is read-only. The assistant reads your data to answer a question, but it cannot create, change, or delete anything in your account.

  • It doesn't change your data. Refunds, edits, and changes stay in the Dashboard.
  • It doesn't answer questions about how Fundraise Up works. For those, use this documentation or contact Fundraise Up support.
  • It doesn't return contact details in bulk. For a full list, create an export.
  • It doesn't give legal, tax, or investment advice.

The assistant answers in English only.

Chats

Each chat keeps its own history, so you can hold separate threads for separate questions and come back to them later.

  • To start a chat, click New chat.
  • To find an earlier chat, type in Search chats.
  • The assistant names a chat after your first question. To choose your own name, open the menu next to the chat and select Rename.
  • To keep a chat at the top of the list, select Pin.
  • To remove a chat, select Delete. Deletion is permanent.

Your chats are private to you. Other users in your organization cannot open them.

An unpinned chat is deleted 30 days after its last message. A pinned chat stays until you delete it.

Voice input

To dictate a question, click the microphone in the message box and speak. The assistant turns the recording into text in the message box, where you can check and correct it before you send it. A recording can run up to 2 minutes. Fundraise Up does not store the audio.

Accuracy and feedback

Answers come from your own data, but the assistant can still get an answer wrong. Check any figure before you act on it or share it outside your team.

Under each answer you can copy the text, or rate it with a thumbs up or thumbs down. A thumbs down opens a short form where you choose what went wrong and add details. Ratings go to the Fundraise Up team and shape how the assistant gets better, so an answer that was wrong or unhelpful is worth rating.

Limits

AI Assistant has usage limits:

  • 50 messages per user per day.
  • 2,000 messages per organization per month.
  • 500 messages in a single chat.
  • 50 voice recordings per user per day.

How your data is used

To answer a question, Fundraise Up sends the part of your organization's data needed for that answer to an AI model provider. This can include supporter names, email addresses, and donation amounts.

Your data is not used to train models, and it is not shared outside the chain that produces the answer.

You can ask the same kinds of questions from Claude or ChatGPT instead, by connecting them to your account with Fundraise Up MCP.
