Raiser’s Edge NXT

Learn how to integrate Fundraise Up with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT.

Raiser's Edge NXT is a cloud-based fundraising and donor management software solution designed to help nonprofit organizations engage with supporters and streamline their fundraising efforts. Using Fundraise Up’s built-in integration, you can automatically sync donations from Fundraise Up to Raiser’s Edge NXT.

Raiser’s Edge NXT limitations: This integration has reduced functionality due to the limitations of Blackbaud’s Sky API. We recommend reviewing impacted areas prior to implementation. Learn more →

Behavior

Below, we describe some of the behavioral characteristics of the Raiser’s Edge NXT integration.

Recurring plans

Link copied

When a recurring plan is created in Fundraise Up and synced for the first time, Raiser’s Edge NXT will create two gift records: a Recurring gift record and a Recurring gift payment record.

The recurring gift record includes the status of the recurring plan, the plan schedule, recurring donation amount, and other details. The Recurring gift payment record represents the first installment made against the recurring plan. Subsequent installments will create Recurring gift payment records associated with the Recurring gift record.

Constituent matching and deduplication

By default, we recommend matching Fundraise Up Supporter records with Raiser’s Edge NXT Constituent records using email. This option is configured from the integration settings for Raiser’s Edge NXT in Fundraise Up.

Handling multiple currencies

Donations synced from Fundraise Up to Raiser’s Edge NXT include donation amounts in your Fundraise Up account’s default currency. This is because Raiser’s Edge NXT cannot accommodate recording separate currency values for donation amounts.

Configuration

The options below control general settings for the Raiser’s Edge NXT integration. They are configured from the Dashboard.

Basic settings

These optional settings control basic integration functions.

  • Syncing test data: When using test mode to experiment with platform settings, you can opt to send test transactions to Raiser’s Edge NXT. This enables you to configure and refine mapping rules so that values from Fundraise Up are synced to the expected properties in Raiser’s Edge NXT. By default, the Sync test data option is disabled when you enable an integration, but it can be enabled from the integration’s settings.
  • Update “Has been acknowledged” if thank you email has been sent by Fundraise Up: When this option is enabled, Fundraise Up will programmatically set the acknowledgement status to Acknowledged for the gift record created in Raiser’s Edge NXT. This is useful when you use the emails built-in to Fundraise Up to send donation receipts.

Required settings

The settings below must be configured for the integration to operate correctly.

  • Match constituent: This option controls how constituent matching and deduplication is performed. By default, we recommend matching Fundraise Up Supporter records with Raiser’s Edge NXT Constituent records using email. When By Name and Address is selected, Fundraise Up uses fuzzy logic to accurately match addresses.
  • Default email type: Enables you to select the default email type assignment in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Default phone type: Enables you to select the default phone type assignment in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Default address type: Enables you to select the default address type assignment in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Default fund: Enables you to select the default fund assignment for donation’s synced to Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Gift post status: Enables you to select the GL post status for donation records synced from Fundraise Up to Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Country matching: This setting includes options for matching country identifiers in Fundraise Up to country identifiers in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
If the country matching option is not configured for the integration in Fundraise Up, it is not possible to create or modify mailing addresses in Raiser’s Edge NXT for synced records.

Optional settings

The settings below are not required for the integration to function, but configuring them can help you better track and manage donations synced from Fundraise Up to Raiser’s Edge NXT.

  • Default campaign: The default Raiser’s Edge NXT campaign to sync Fundraise Up donations to.
  • Default appeal: The default appeal that is assigned to donations synced from Fundraise Up.
  • Default gift subtype: Sets the gift subtype field for donations synced from Fundraise Up to Raiser’s Edge NXT
  • Default constituent code: Sets the Raiser’s Edge NXT constituent code for Supporter records synced from Fundraise Up.
  • Default comment: Textarea input that allows alphanumeric characters and merge variables. Most often, an organization will use this input to insert additional, Fundraise Up-specific details about the donation.

Mapping rules

Link copied

Use mapping rules to define the destination objects and properties of data values synced from the platform. Support for mapping rules is based on the flexibility of Blackbaud’s Sky API.

Mapping rules are configured by linking a Fundraise Up object and property to an object and property in Raiser’s Edge NXT. A value sent from Fundraise Up will be written to a property in your Raiser’s Edge NXT instance. By default, Fundraise Up defines some rules for you to reduce the implementation steps you need to take. These rules can be removed or modified as needed.

Mapping rules example:

  • Linking the Donation ID value from Fundraise Up to the Luminate Online Gift ID property on the Gift object in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
    Fundraise Up Raiser’s Edge NXT
    Object: Donation Object: Gift
Property: ID Property: Luminate Online Gift ID

Special rules

The Raiser’s Edge NXT integration can be configured to use special rules. These types of rules use if/then conditions that enable you to link a property’s value in Fundraise Up to a property’s value in Raiser’s Edge NXT.

Special rule examples:

  • If Campaign equals “Shelter” in Fundraise Up, then set the campaign in Raiser’s Edge NXT to “Shelter.”
  • If Designation equals “Areas of Greatest Need” in Fundraise Up, then set the campaign in Raiser’s Edge NXT to “General Donations.”

Sync settings

Fundraise Up’s built-in integrations include settings for managing the sync behavior for records.

  • Automatic sync: By default, the automatic sync option is disabled when you connect an integration to Fundraise Up. This enables you to configure the integration’s settings and mapping rules before synchronizing records.

Once you are satisfied with the configuration for an integration, we recommend enabling the automatic sync feature.

  • Disconnect Raiser’s Edge NXT: You can disconnect Raiser’s Edge NXT at any time from its settings page. Disconnecting and then reconnecting Raiser’s Edge NXT using the same credentials will preserve the settings and mapping rules set before the app was disconnected form Fundraise Up.
