Making a donation anonymous post-contribution

When a supporter makes a donation through Fundraise Up, their first and last names are typically associated with the donation by default. However, some supporters may prefer to give anonymously for various reasons, such as privacy concerns or personal preferences. Fundraise Up provides the option for supporters to make their donations anonymous during the checkout process. When this option is selected, the donation record won't appear in any public feeds, such as the "Social Proof" and "Recent Donations" Elements.

Changing a donation to anonymous after checkout

If a supporter did not choose the anonymous donation option during checkout but later wishes to make their donation anonymous, the organization can accommodate this request. While the supporter cannot make this change directly through the Donor Portal, the organization has the ability to edit the donation record in the Dashboard. Here's how:

  1. Open your Dashboard > Donations
  2. Find and open the donation.
  3. Go to the "Personal Information" section and click the Edit button
  4. Check the "Anonymous donation" checkbox.
  5. Save changes.

Important Considerations

  • Donation-level changes: The anonymous setting can only be modified at the individual donation level. It cannot be applied to the supporter's record as a whole.
  • Multiple donations: If a supporter has made multiple donations and wishes to make all of them anonymous, the changes must be made to each donation record separately.
  • Retroactive anonymity: Making a donation anonymous after it has been processed will not retroactively remove the supporter's name from any previous public displays or reports. The anonymity will only apply to future displays and reports.
