Handling Final Installments in Date-Limited Recurring Donations
When organization user set up recurring donations through Fundraise Up's Virtual Terminal with a specific end date, they might wonder what happens if the final installment falls on the same day as the plan's end date.
Here's how Fundraise Up handles this situation: The system is designed to ensure that all scheduled payments are processed, even if the last installment coincides with the recurring plan's end date. When a recurring donation plan reaches its set end date, Fundraise Up doesn't immediately mark it as completed. Instead, it first checks if there are any installments due on that final day.
If an installment is scheduled for the end date, which often happens with monthly or annual donations, the system will process this payment as usual. Only after this final payment is successfully charged will the recurring plan be marked as completed. This approach guarantees that supporters fulfill their entire commitment, and organizations receive all the promised contributions.
For example, if a monthly recurring donation is set to end on March 31, and March 31 is also the day when the monthly payment would typically be processed, Fundraise Up will charge this last installment before concluding the recurring plan. This ensures that neither the supporter nor the organization misses out on the final contribution.
