Issuing Partial Refunds

While Fundraise Up does not provide a direct option to issue partial refunds from within its dashboard, you can still process partial refunds for donations made through Stripe or PayPal.

Issuing Partial Refunds through Stripe or PayPal

If you need to issue a partial refund for a donation made through Fundraise Up, you can do so by logging into your Stripe or PayPal account and following their respective procedures for processing partial refunds:

How Partial Refunds Appear in Fundraise Up

When you issue a partial refund through Stripe or PayPal, the donation's status does not change in Fundraise Up—it remains marked as succeeded in the dashboard.

How to Identify Partial Refunds

  • Donation Record: The status stays as succeeded, but the Payment & fees section of the donation record updates to show the Refunded amount and Refunded platform fee.
  • Sync & Automation: Since the status remains succeeded, partial refunds don't trigger status updates or sync events to connected integrations.
  • Reporting & Exports: Partially refunded donations won't appear in the "Refunded donations" export. They stay under "Successful donations" or "New donations" exports. To see partial refund data in an export:
    1. Export new or successful donations.
    2. Include columns for Refund Amount and Refunded Platform Fee in your export template.
