How does the Process a payment now checkbox work?
If you have ever tried to edit a recurring plan or activate a previously canceled recurring plan, you may have noticed a checkbox labeled Process a payment now. This checkbox can be a bit confusing, so we would like to explain how it works and what the consequences are if you check it.
First and foremost, it is important to understand that checking the Process a payment now checkbox does not automatically change the schedule of the recurring plan. For example, if a recurring plan has monthly charges on the 20th day of the month, and you check the Process a payment now checkbox on the 10th day of the month, the recurring plan will be charged immediately, but the planned charge on the 20th of the month will also be charged as planned. This means that two charges will be made during that month when such a change was made.
This is because the recurring plan is charged according to the date specified in the Starting on field, and checking the Process a payment now checkbox does not change that date.
So, if you do need to change the schedule of a recurring plan, be sure to adjust the Starting on date accordingly.
