Stripe metadata for Fundraise Up donations
Fundraise Up sends only the Donation ID as metadata to Stripe. Stripe metadata does not include detailed supporter, campaign, or payment information. The Donation ID preserves a unique link between each Stripe transaction and its donation record in Fundraise Up.
Stripe populates the Description field and payment method details separately from metadata. These fields may still show supporter-identifying information.
Metadata by connection date
Fundraise Up uses the Donation ID-only policy for organizations that connected to Stripe after October 11, 2023.
If your organization connected before this date, you may also see additional legacy metadata fields. These fields can include Account, Campaign, Designation, Email, and others.
Data protection and reconciliation
Limiting Stripe metadata to the Donation ID reduces the data shared with external systems and supports compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
To reconcile a transaction, match the Fundraise Up Donation ID in Stripe payment metadata with the Donation ID in Dashboard or Exports.
Find full donation details
Dashboard and Exports contain the complete donation record, including supporter, campaign, designation, amount, and payment information. Use Exports if your organization needs additional data for reporting or analytics.
