Understanding the behavior of multiple global elements

Global Elements in Fundraise Up are UI components that appear on top of your website content and do not require individual embed codes. They are automatically loaded with the platform’s installation code and can be displayed across your website to engage visitors and encourage donations.

Because multiple global elements can be active at the same time, Fundraise Up applies built-in logic to prevent visual conflicts and maintain a clean, usable supporter experience.

Global Elements overview

The following elements are considered global elements:

These elements are managed entirely from the Fundraise Up Dashboard and apply across pages where Fundraise Up is installed.

How global element conflicts are handled

When multiple global elements are active on the same page, Fundraise Up automatically determines how they display to avoid overlap and blocked interactions.

This includes:

  • Resolving conflicts when multiple elements target the same area of the screen
  • Temporarily hiding or pausing elements when required
  • Adjusting element positioning when possible

The exact behavior depends on the element types involved and the device being used.

Check Element Priority for a complete explanation of how element priority works, including:

  • Same element type behavior
  • Cross-type priority hierarchy
  • Desktop vs mobile differences

Element scheduling

For Message Bar and Popup elements, you can control when they appear using the scheduling options in the Behavior section:

  • Show from date: The date the element begins displaying (12:00 AM in your organization’s time zone)
  • Hide after date: The date the element stops displaying (11:59 PM in your organization’s time zone)

Scheduling works independently from element priority. During its active period, an element still follows the same priority rules if other global elements are present.

Ways to use multiple global elements without conflicts

You can reduce the likelihood of conflicts by combining configuration options available in the Dashboard.

1. Use different display locations

Place elements in different screen positions using the Appearance settings.

Example:

  • Sticky Button at the bottom left
  • Message Bar at the top

2. Control when elements appear (scheduling)

For supported elements, use Show from and Hide after dates so elements are not active at the same time.

Example:

  • Popup displayed during a campaign period
  • Sticky Button active outside that window

3. Limit where elements appear (page visibility)

Use visibility rules to show or hide elements on specific pages.

Example:

  • Social Proof enabled only on landing pages
  • Reminder hidden on pages with chat or accessibility widgets

4. Rely on built-in priority behavior

When configuration alone can’t prevent conflicts, Fundraise Up automatically applies element priority rules.

Details of this behavior are documented in the priority article linked above.
