Understanding the behavior of multiple global Elements
Global Elements in Fundraise Up, such as Overlay Elements (Social Proof, Reminder, Message Bar, and Popup) and the Sticky Button, are features that don't have their own embed code. They are automatically loaded with the platform's installation code. These Elements can be displayed across the entire website to engage visitors and encourage donations.
The rule of priority
When two or more Global Elements of the same type (e.g., multiple Sticky Buttons or multiple Message Bar Elements) are enabled on the same page and set to display at the same location, Fundraise Up displays the Element that was most recently saved. This includes both newly created Elements and existing Elements that were re-saved, even without making any changes.
If you want a specific Element to display instead of the one currently showing on your page, you can simply go to that Element in your dashboard and click the “Save changes” button (no changes required). This will make it the most recently saved Element and therefore the one that displays on your page.
Element scheduling
For Message Bar and Popup Elements, you can now schedule when they appear using the date controls in the Behavior section:
- Show from date: Set when the Element should start displaying (enables at 12:00 AM in your organization's time zone)
- Hide after date: Set when the Element should stop displaying (disables at 11:59 PM in your organization's time zone)
The scheduling feature works independently from the priority rule, meaning that during its scheduled display period, an Element will still follow the last-saved priority rule when competing with other Elements for the same location.
Enabling multiple Elements at different locations
While the rule of priority determines which Element is displayed when there is a conflict, you can still enable multiple Global Elements of the same type on the same page, provided they are set to display at different locations in the Appearance tab.
For example, you can have multiple Sticky Button Elements on a single page, as long as they are configured to appear at different positions (e.g., one at the top left and another at the bottom left). By strategically placing Global Elements at different locations, you can create various calls-to-action without the Elements conflicting with each other.
