Frequency changes and the next payment date
Changing a recurring plan’s frequency does not necessarily move its next payment date. For example, switching from monthly to annual giving does not automatically postpone the next payment by a year.
How the schedule works
The frequency controls how often payments repeat. The next installment date determines when the next payment occurs.
When you change a recurring plan to a less frequent schedule, its next payment date may stay the same. Review the next installment date and update it separately if the supporter wants to postpone the next payment.
Example: Change from monthly to quarterly
A monthly plan has its next payment scheduled for August 29. The supporter changes the frequency to quarterly without changing the next installment date.
The August 29 payment remains scheduled. The quarterly frequency applies to subsequent payments.
If the supporter wants the next payment to occur later, they must also update the next installment date.
