Changes to export templates: Donation and Recurring Status fields
Export templates use enhanced Donation Status and Recurring Status fields that replace the legacy status fields previously available in exports. These changes provide clearer, more consistent status values and support additional states for donations and recurring plans.
If your organization uses exported files for reporting or integrations, it’s important to be aware of the current status values and how they differ from legacy fields that may still appear in older templates.
Current status fields overview
The following legacy fields are no longer supported for active use:
- Donation Status (Deprecated)
- Advanced Donation Status (Deprecated)
- Recurring Status (Deprecated)
Their functionality has been consolidated into the enhanced Donation Status and Recurring Status fields.
In new export templates, the enhanced fields are included by default and appear after the Donation ID and Recurring ID fields respectively.
Donation Status
The enhanced Donation Status field reflects the current state of a donation and replaces both the legacy Donation Status and Advanced Donation Status fields.
| Legacy value | Current value |
|---|---|
| success | succeeded |
| pending | pending |
| — | scheduled |
| — | retrying |
| refunded | refunded |
| failed | failed |
| disputed | — |
Notes:
- The value
successhas been renamed tosucceeded. - The
scheduledandretryingvalues are now reported directly in Donation Status. - The
disputedvalue from Advanced Donation Status is no longer returned.
Recurring Status
The enhanced Recurring Status field provides additional visibility into recurring plan lifecycles.
| Legacy value | Current value |
|---|---|
| active | active |
| — | scheduled |
| — | retrying |
| — | paused |
| failed | failed |
| cancelled | canceled |
| — | completed |
Notes:
- The spelling of
cancelledhas been standardized tocanceled. - New statuses reflect intermediate and terminal states of recurring plans, including
scheduled,retrying,paused, andcompleted.
Deprecated fields behavior
Deprecated status fields may still appear in older export templates, but they no longer return live status values. Instead, they contain static placeholder text indicating that the field is outdated.
These deprecated fields cannot be added to new templates and may be removed from existing templates over time.
Impact on integrations and reporting
Integrations, automations, and reports that consume export data should rely exclusively on the enhanced Donation Status and Recurring Status fields.
When evaluating exported data:
- Do not rely on deprecated fields or legacy status values.
- Ensure logic accounts for the expanded set of possible status values.
- Use
succeededinstead ofsuccesswhen identifying successful donations.
