Understanding email validation

When supporters make contributions through your Fundraise Up donation checkout, they are required to provide a valid email address. These email addresses are validated by our partner, ZeroBounce, to ensure high deliverability for receipts and transactional emails.

Why email validation matters

Email validation is a crucial step in maintaining the health and reputation of your organization's email communications. By ensuring that the email addresses on your mailing lists have high deliverability, you can prevent your organizational emails from being deprioritized or marked as spam by email providers.

This is especially important for Fundraise Up transactional emails that are not marked with a custom "From" address. We need to ensure that our stock email delivery addresses remain in good standing with email providers to guarantee that your supporters receive important communications regarding their transactions.

How email validation works

During the Fundraise Up checkout process, when a supporter enters their email address, it is automatically validated by ZeroBounce. ZeroBounce is a specialized email validation service that checks the validity and deliverability of email addresses in real-time.

If an email address is flagged as invalid or unlikely to be delivered successfully, the supporter will be prompted to provide a different email address before they can proceed with their donation.

Dealing with rejected email addresses

If a supporter reports that their email address was rejected during the Fundraise Up checkout process, despite being a valid email address used elsewhere, please take the following steps:

  1. Verify the email address: Double-check the email address provided by the supporter to ensure there are no typos or formatting issues.
  2. Contact Fundraise Up support: If the email address appears to be valid, contact our support team and provide the rejected email address along with any relevant details.
  3. Whitelist request: In some cases, we may be able to whitelist a specific email address to allow it to pass through the validation process. However, please note that this ability is limited and subject to review.
