Model Context Protocol, or MCP, is a standard that allows AI assistants to securely connect with other software and take supported actions. For nonprofits, that creates the possibility of working with fundraising technology through an AI assistant.

Fundraise Up MCP lets you connect AI assistants like ChatGPT or Claude directly to Fundraise Up. Once connected, you can ask questions about donations, recurring plans, campaigns, designations, and fundraising totals in plain language without exporting data or querying an API. Access is read-only and respects each user’s existing Fundraise Up permissions.

Which AI assistants can I connect?

Fundraise Up MCP can connect with both Claude and ChatGPT agents.

What Fundraise Up data can it access?

The MCP can access donations, recurring plans, campaigns, designations, and fundraising totals.

Can it make changes in my account?

The MCP cannot make any changes in your account include creating, updating, or deleting records. The MCP is read-only.

How do permissions work?

Each person can only see what their Dashboard role already allows.

How do I enable it?

An Organization Administrator in Fundraise Up has access to enable Fundraise Up MCP in Settings. Once enabled, individual team members can connect their own assistant.
