Manual migration
Learn how to manually migrate your current recurring plans to Fundraise Up.
If your organization has fewer than 25 active recurring donation plans, we recommend that you migrate them manually, due to the complex process involving multiple parties (your organization, previous processors, and Fundraise Up) and time-consuming tasks (such as transferring tokens from the previous processor).
There are several reasons why manual migration is preferable:
- It has proven to be faster for smaller numbers of migrations.
- It is an excellent way to reconnect and strengthen relationships with your existing recurring supporters.
- It provides an opportunity to talk with your supporters about covering fees and increasing potential donations.
How to migrate your recurring plans manually
There are two ways to handle small manual migrations.
- Reach out to the supporters and use Fundraise Up's Virtual Terminal to recreate their recurring donations in Fundraise Up. Once completed, cancel the donations in your legacy platform.
Or
- Run a targeted email campaign to your supporters using our URL API to auto-populate the supporter information in the link (such as name, email, recurring, amount, and more). You can use this spreadsheet template to automatically generate the donation links. This makes for a frictionless experience for the supporters, as all they have to do is re-enter the details of their payment method.
After completing the above, cancel each supporter's recurring donation in your prior payment processor.
