Bank debits
Learn about the direct debit systems available in Fundraise Up.
Bank debit, also known as direct debit, is a widely-used payment method that allows organizations to collect payments directly from supporters’ bank accounts. This method is popular for both recurring payments and one-time donations in many countries and regions.
Different regions have their own bank debit systems, including:
- ACH (Automated Clearing House) in the United States
- Bacs Direct Debit in the UK
- BECS (Bulk Electronic Clearing System) Direct Debit in Australia
- PAD (Pre-authorized Debit) in Canada
- SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) Direct Debit in Europe
Each system has its own specific rules, timelines, and requirements, but they all serve the same basic purpose of facilitating direct bank-to-bank transfers.
While typically accounts in Stripe have strict transaction and weekly limits on bank transfers, Fundraise Up organizations are not subject to these limits. This gives you more flexibility when processing large or frequent transactions.
