Cash App Pay

Supporters see Cash App Pay among the payment options when all of these conditions are met:

• Cash App Pay is enabled for your organization.
• Your organization is based in the United States.
• The donation currency is USD.

Availability is decided by your organization, not by where the supporter is. A supporter needs a Cash App account registered in the United States, but can be outside the country at the moment they give.

Supporters can choose Cash App Pay for a one-time donation or for a new recurring plan.

After the supporter selects Cash App Pay and confirms the donation, checkout takes them to a page hosted by Stripe, where they approve the payment. On a phone, they approve it in the Cash App app. On a desktop, they scan a QR code with their phone and approve it there. They then return to checkout.

Everything needed to approve the payment is shown on the Stripe side, and Stripe verifies the payment itself. Fundraise Up starts the redirect and shows the result when the supporter comes back.

If the payment is declined, or the supporter closes the tab without finishing, Fundraise Up doesn't create the donation.

Before the plan is created, the supporter must authorize future charges. The authorization step states what the donation supports, how often it is charged, how the amount is determined, and how to cancel the plan. Stripe and Cash App require it before the payment method can be saved.

A supporter who gives to several organizations on Fundraise Up authorizes Cash App Pay separately for each one. A saved Cash App Pay payment method is never reused across organizations.

Supporters can revoke the authorization in Cash App, and it can also expire. The plan then stops and needs a new authorization.

Cash App Pay takes two steps to set up. Your organization first activates it in its own Stripe account, then turns it on in the Fundraise Up Dashboard.

1. Log in to your Stripe dashboard.
2. Go to Settings > Payments > Payment methods.
3. Locate Cash App Pay and click Enable.

Until your organization connects a Stripe account, Enable Cash App Pay is unavailable.

To stop accepting Cash App Pay donations, go to Settings > Payment methods > Cash App Pay in your Fundraise Up Dashboard, click Disable Cash App Pay, and confirm the change.

Donations and recurring plans made with Cash App Pay appear in your Dashboard, reporting, exports, the API, and CRM integrations.

If your CRM integration maps payment methods to values in your CRM, Cash App Pay is set to Credit Card by default. Edit that mapping to send a different value, including on integrations you connected before this release.
