When Revolut Pay appears
Supporters see Revolut Pay among the payment options when all of these conditions are met:
- Revolut Pay is enabled for your organization.
- Revolut Pay is activated in your own Stripe account.
- Your organization is registered in one of the countries that Stripe supports for Revolut Pay.
- The supporter IP address is in the United Kingdom or a European Union country.
- The donation is processed in a currency available to your country.
Supporters can choose Revolut Pay for a one-time donation or for a new recurring plan.
In Gift Cart, Revolut Pay appears when every gift in the cart is one-time, or when every gift is recurring at the same frequency.
Revolut Pay is not available in Virtual Terminal.
How supporters pay with Revolut Pay
After the supporter selects Revolut Pay and confirms the donation, they approve the payment in the Revolut app. On a mobile device, the app opens directly. On desktop, checkout shows a QR code that the supporter scans with the Revolut app, and they approve the payment on their phone. A supporter on a mobile device without the app installed is offered a Revolut web form instead, and the donation completes the same way.
The supporter then returns to checkout and reaches the confirmation screen.
If the supporter declines the payment, closes the app without approving it, or lets the authorization expire, they see a payment error and must either try Revolut Pay again or choose another payment method.
Recurring plans
A recurring plan starts at checkout together with its first payment. One action in the Revolut app approves both that payment and the authorization for future charges. A recurring plan with a future start date cannot be set up with Revolut Pay.
Before the plan is created, checkout shows the supporter what they authorize, including how often the charge repeats. Pressing the donation button accepts it.
After the first payment, Fundraise Up charges the plan automatically. The supporter does not need to approve each charge.
A supporter who revokes the authorization in the Revolut app stops the plan. It moves to Failed, and the supporter gets the email with a button to update their payment details.
Supporters can switch an existing recurring plan to Revolut Pay in the Donor Portal. Your team cannot do this from the Dashboard, because only the supporter can authorize the charges in their own app.
A one-time Revolut Pay donation cannot be upgraded to a recurring plan later.
How to enable Revolut Pay
Revolut Pay takes two steps to set up. Your organization first activates it in its own Stripe account, then turns it on in the Fundraise Up Dashboard.
Step 1: Activate Revolut Pay in Stripe
- Log in to your Stripe dashboard.
- Go to Settings > Payments > Payment methods.
- Locate Revolut Pay and click Enable.
Step 2: Enable Revolut Pay in Fundraise Up
- Log in to your Fundraise Up Dashboard.
- Go to Settings > Payment methods.
- Click Revolut Pay, then click Enable Revolut Pay.
Until your organization connects a Stripe account, Enable Revolut Pay is unavailable. Organizations registered outside the countries that Stripe supports for Revolut Pay do not see the method in the list at all.
To stop accepting Revolut Pay donations, go to Settings > Payment methods > Revolut Pay in your Fundraise Up Dashboard, open the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, click Disable Revolut Pay, and confirm the change. Recurring plans already set up with Revolut Pay keep charging after you disable it. Only new donations stop.
A subaccount that uses the Stripe account of its parent organization cannot turn Revolut Pay on or off itself. It accepts Revolut Pay whenever the parent organization has it enabled.
Refunds
Donations made using Revolut Pay can be refunded in full, up to 180 days after the original donation date. Partial refunds are not supported.
To refund a Revolut Pay donation:
- Go to Donations.
- Click the donation to open its details page.
- Click Refund donation in the top-right corner of the page.
A Revolut Pay refund is not instant. The payment system takes a few minutes to confirm it. A refund can also fail, in which case the amount returns to your balance with the payment system and your organization must refund the supporter another way.
Disputes
Supporters can dispute a Revolut Pay donation through Revolut for up to 120 days after the donation. The payment system holds the disputed amount until the case is resolved, and asks your organization for evidence that the donation was legitimate.
Revolut Pay data in Fundraise Up
Donations and recurring plans made with Revolut Pay carry the Revolut Pay name and icon in your Dashboard, Insights, the Donor Portal, exports, the API, and CRM integrations.
If your CRM integration maps payment methods to values in your CRM, Revolut Pay is mapped to Credit Card until you edit that mapping. Integrations you connected before the release get the same default.
